RESEARCH - PROJECTS AND GALLERIES

Carbonate Group Active World Wide - No Sedimentary Boundary Limits
Introduction
This group
is directed by Dr. Charlie Kerans. Researchers include faculty, staff and students
of the Jackson School of Geosciences who have wide ranging interests in carbonate
geology covering many aspects of carbonate sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy.
Many research projects include a consideration of carbonate reservoir characterization,
outcrop analog studies, and new approaches to 3D modeling. Current projects
are wide ranging, extend world wide and often have links to an understanding
of carbonate reservoirs and exploration plays.
Research includes
field work in Australia, West Texas, and New Mexico. Subsurface datasets include
reservoirs from the Cretaceous and Jurassic of the Middle East and the Permian
of West Texas. New research areas being considered are the Holocene sediments
of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos. New research directions are in quantitative
modeling of outcrop and subsurface data.
