The Placement Coordinator uses listservs to communicate with the students participating in the recruiting process. Information such as when the recruiters will be on campus; where and when the recruiting company orientations/presentations will be held; which candidates the companies have pre-selected; what requirements they are looking for in placement candidates; in what rooms they will conduct their interviews; and schedule changes, will be sent via this e-mail server. Undergraduate listserv is titled geosciundergrads. The graduate listserv is geoscigrads.

The company fliers show the dates and times for campus orientations and interviews, as well as specific company information and job descriptions. The undergraduate Placement bulletin board is across from GEO Room 2.324 and the graduate Placement bulletin board is outside the Graduate Lounge. In addition, orientation announcements will be posted in both elevators.

You should attend each infosession if at all possible. You will gather a good deal of information, and you will have a chance to ask questions of the recruiters, one on one. Most recruiting companies encourage everyone to attend, as they like to meet you informally and to hear your thoughts and questions. Especially attend the infosessions if you would like to interview with a particular company or companies. This is a great opportunity to let the recruiter know of your interest.

The placement orientation meeting is where you will learn the basics of the recruiting process. This information is also sometimes sent using the undergraduate or graduate listserv.
