Welcome to the Jackson School of Geosciences Career Center (JSGCC) at The University of Texas at Austin. Our goal is to assist employers and students in developing an ongoing recruitment relationship. The JSGCC fulfills two complementary functions; preparing students for a successful career search and managing an active on-campus interviewing process. We greatly appreciate your ongoing commitment to the JSG and look forward to working with you toward our mutual success. JSG Fall 2009 Career Fair: September 16, 2009 Fall Semester 2009: September 21 through November 6, 2009 The JSG Career Center provides on-campus recruiting twice a year, early in the Fall and Spring
semesters. Employers may interview students for full-time positions or summer
internships. Interview rooms are provided in the Jackson Geosciences Building (JGB)
where we provide wireless internet access, a break room, and refreshments. We also
reserve a room for company information sessions prior to interviewing on-campus.
JSG students who are interested in our Spring and Fall on-campus interview
sessions will create an account and upload a resume to our online database.
Employers who also register online will
post jobs, view resumes,
and schedule interviews with JSG students on campus. Our upgraded online career services system, GEO•SOURCE will be used for all on-campus recruiting efforts. When registered, employers may view student resumes and schedule interviews with our students in the Jackson School of Geosciences. As we transition to this new technology, please call or email the JSGCC with any questions or for assistance: 512-232-7673 or careers@geo.utexas.edu. Once you have pre-selected candidates for interviews, please inform our office of your interview schedule and make the JSG your first point of contact while working with the online database. The JSG Career Center currently uses our web pages for job postings, that are available to the students and alumni of the Jackson School of Geosciences. There is no charge for posting your announcements. The preferred method is to submit in electronic format as an attached file (either Word format or Adobe PDF) to careers@geo.utexas.edu. Information sessions may be scheduled through our office. Typically, companies host an Info Session the evening before interviewing the next day. The JSGCC can accommodate two information sessions each evening at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Audio/Video equipment is always available in this room and catering is allowed. Info Sessions and on-campus interviews are usually reserved at the same time. You may arrange for catering for your information session by contacting one of the vendors on our Recommended Catering List.
