How to import NetCDF format data into ArcGIS 10

An ESRI tutorial on using the "Make NetCDF Raster Layer" tool in ArcGIS10 is available online at http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/pdf/netcdf-tutorial.pdf

This tool does not apparently work for importing NetCDF Gebco bathymetry.  Instead, first download and install the Gebco Display software (https://www.bodc.ac.uk/products/software_products/gebco_grid_display/ ; you must register as a user first), which can export the data as ASCII.
