Tertiary Clastics at Pine Forest Golf Course and Red Bluff, Bastrop

I. OBJECTIVES:

  • Measure and describe a section of terrigenous clastics.
  • Draw an outcrop sketch to document stratigraphic relationships.
  • Identify river pebbles for provenance determination.
  • Identify sedimentary structures in several outcrops.

II. WHEN:

  • February 9 or 10.

 Trips will return to Austin by about 5:30 PM.

III. BRING:

  • Clipboard, paper, field book, & appropriate pages of the lab manual.
  • Compass, ruler, protractor
  • Mechanical & colored pencils
  • Hand lens, hammer, acid bottle
  • Water, lunch, raincoat

IV. BACKGROUND MATERIAL

Be on time and come prepared!
