Precambrian units of the Llano Uplift

I. Objectives

  • Produce sketches showing the geometry of cross cutting and superpositional relationships among granites, gneisses and schist
  • Learn to measure, record and compare fabric elements (foliations, lineations, hinge lines) in the same
  • Construct a detailed pace and compass map of a granite exposure

II. When

  • April 5 or 6
  • We depart at 7:30 AM from the east basement door and will be back on campus by about 6:15.
  • Please attend the day indicated on the trip roster.

III.Bring

  • Compass, hand lens, hammer
  • Clipboard, field book
  • Lunch, water, rain coat

 

 

Paleozoic rxs. (brown), Llano uplift
Paleozoic Rocks (brown), Precambrian plutons
(pink) and Pennsylvanian faults in the Llano uplift.
