Postdoctoral Research


The University of Texas at Austin/Jackson School of Geosciences/ Department of Geological Sciences

Postdoctoral positions are available for interdisciplinary research on the structural geology and tectonic evolution of the Colombian Andes. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in geosciences, with expertise in structural geology. Desirable experience includes structural seismic interpretation, time-depth conversions, cross-section balancing in contractional or extensional settings, field mapping, 2-D or 3-D structural modeling, and evaluation of tectonic and sedimentary interactions. Applicants should be willing to spend significant research time in Colombia conducting field work and working closely with research partner Ecopetrol at the Instituto Colombiano del Petroleo. Spanish language skills would be beneficial, but are not required. Initial appointments are for one year, but may be renewed annually for up to 2 years if funding is available.
