Resources for ResearchThe Jackson School of Geosciences offers unsurpassed resources available for student research. You can find a broad description of some of the resources by following this link. Below are some of the resources our research group has. Other resources are available from other UT faculty/ research groups. Some of our field equipment7 Aqua Troll and 2 multi-parameter-Troll XP probes with PDAs for communication 1 Level Troll 700 (for 0.25 s logging) used in conjunction with our Pneumatic slug test manifold field acoustic doppler velocimeter (Sontek flowtracker) plus Nortek Vectrino for lab work acoustic doppler current profiler (Teledyne RD Streampro) FLIR SC640 thermal infrared camera 60 Hobo thermistors with 15 independent weather-proof loggers 2 Field Laptops- Panasonic Toughbook (ruggedized laptop) Electrical resistivity meter (AGI SuperSting R8 with 56 take outs) 3 Delta-t Theta Soil Moisture probes and 2 EQ2 Equitensiometers 4 PR2 Soil moisture profiler with independent loggers Turner 10-AU field fluorometer and 2 SCUFAs Handheld thermal property meter (Decagon KD2 Pro) 2 Sevylor Inflateable kayaks Laboratory equipmentt(Chemical and isotopic analyses are done by UT's excellent geochemical labs.) Ample laboratory space with a total of 3 fume hoods Ovens and freezers for storage Laboratory permeameters Custom built 24-foot tilting flume Computing equipment: hardwareOur group works closely with the Texas Advanced Computing Center Several workstations allotted to group members 32 CPU with 128 Gb shared RAM high-performance computer 8 CPU with 16 GB shared RAM workstation Computing equipment: softwareeResearch codes are readily available from their authors and sponsoring organizations. In addition to access to these, we have licenses for several commercial yet robust codes. FLUENT (parallel version available) EarthImager 2D/3D with time-lapse module
