In Search of Sustainable Yield: Analysis
Austin, September 1, 2010
The Pierce Research group adopts a Scholar-Practitioner Approach to conduct research for socially relevant science-based decision making. The group looks at resource allocation and management problems in the Earth, Energy, and Environmental realms.
We develop informatics processes and products to aid tractable, transparent, and adaptive solutions. With such a broad set of possible research topics, we connect efforts using a Decision Pathway framework. Based on empirical research, decision processes are broken into distinct components that comprise every decision making sequence regardless of the particular problem being addressed (See Figure). The Decision Pathway forms the basis for directed, strategic research efforts as a cornerstone for collaboration on complex resource management problems.
