Welcome to the website of the Sandstone Petrology Digital Tutorial project!

This site provides information on the current version of the tutorial and about on-going efforts to evaluate tutorial use in educational

settings.

The tutorial is intended to supplement, and even partially substitute, for laboratory experiences with the petrographic microscope.

Our goal has been to design a tutorial that invites you to explore the microscopic realm of sandstones on your own, but to the extent

possible in the "company" of a very experienced teaching assistant who knows what is what.  You still have to have curiosity to ask

(with a click!) "what is this?

Please feel free to send feedback or contact us via email about the tutorial. We are always trying to improve the content, style,

and user-friendliness of the tutorial. User input has been a tremendously valuable resource for tutorial development. With several

months remaining on the current cycle of tutorial development there is ample opportunity for user feedback to influence the direction

 of tutorial development.
