Imaging the rock structures between and around the deep sinkholes of
Sistema
Zacatón can reveal
many details of their morphological history. A third spatial data
set to compliment the LADAR and
SONAR datasets will be one generated from
Earth Resistivity geophysical methods. In January, 2002, Markus
Lagmanson of Advanced
Geosciences Incorporated will join our team and experiment with the
application of using a
SuperSting instrument to identify geomorphic structures below the rock
surface. This method has proven successful at locating caves, voids,
fractures, and water density variations quite well, and this spatial
information may lead to improving our understanding of how the unique
caves of Sistema Zacatón have formed.
