The Llano Uplift of central Texas consists of multiply deformed, Mesoproterozoic metasedimentary, metavolcanic and metaplutonic rocks metamorphosed at amphibolite (transitional to eclogite/granulite facies) and intruded by late syn- to post-tectonic granites. Deformation and metamorphism occurred during continent-continent (and arc) collision at ~1150-1120 Ma. See Mosher (1998). |

Our current work focuses on determining the deformation history and the P-T-t-deformation paths for the western Llano uplift, relating the results from the western uplift to that documented for eastern uplift, and determining the relationships among late plutonism, contractional deformation and low-P metamorphism in order to model the rapid uplift of the high-P metamorphic rocks. |
