Research Opportunities in Extensional Dynamics for US Undergraduate and Graduate Geosciences Students in Western Turkey

Requirements for participation

The proposal is geared towards US students
who are under-represented in STEM fields.

US students should be

  • female or

  • African American, American Indian, or Hispanic American male or female

undergraduate or graduate students majoring in the Geosciences.

US students must be citizens.

Undergraduate programs that provide academic enrichment, personal support, and research experiences have been shown to substantially reduce the attrition of under-represented students from science careers.

Turkish students will be chosen by our Turkish colleagues.

We are looking for students who are motivated and excited about a career in the Geosciences.

US students who have never left the United States or traveled abroad are encouraged to apply.

Turkish students who have had little interaction with Americans are encouraged to apply.

This is a difficult and challenging experience. Temperatures in the summer in the areas we will visit reach over 100F (38C). Students will have tasks to accomplish before, during and after the research experience. We will choose students who we think will benefit the most from the experience.
