PhD OpportunitiesMost of my work is quantitative and involves significant amounts of
mathematical modeling and numerical simulations. Therefore, I am looking for
students with good mathematical background, which usually includes courses in
differential equations and vector calculus. Students with undergraduate
degrees in engineering or physics and a interest in geological and environmental
problems are welcome to apply. If you would like to work with me, you can either
apply to the Department of Geological Sciences or to the Computational Science,
Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM) program in the Institute for Computational
Engineering ad Science (ICES). Reactive transport modeling for melt migrationThis project is part of a collaboration with the applied mathematics department to develop a reactive transport simulator for partially molten systems in planetary interiors. The work will combine numerical implementation of a multi-component reactive transport code with theoretical analysis of the simplified one-dimensional displacements. Postdoc OpportunitiesI am currently looking for a post-doc interested in high-order numerical discretizations to study convective dissolution of CO2 in saline aquifers. Security sensitive; conviction verification conducted on applicant selected. The University of Texas at Austin is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer. Posted - 01/21/11 |
